Mr. Tom Nugent has served as the director of the Greeley West High School (GWHS) orchestra program since 2012, playing an instrumental role in building an orchestra program distinguished by its high level of performance.
GROWING A PROGRAM
During his tenure, the orchestra program has expanded from one orchestra to three leveled string ensembles, an alternative styles string ensemble, and a guitar program.
Under the direction of Mr. Nugent, the orchestras have performed by invitation at the University of Colorado Orchestra Festival held annually in Boulder, at Disney Springs, Walt Disney World in Orlando, and various festivals across the state of Colorado.

RECOGNITIONS & AWARDS
Mr. Nugent has received several awards in recognition for his work with young musicians:
- Position serving on All-State Board of Governors (CMEA)
- Position serving as Southwestern Division Representative on the Council for Orchestral Education (NAfME)
- Position serving on District Curriculum Council (WCSD6)
- Position serving as Secondary Music Lead Teacher (WCSD6)
- Multiple-time presenter at the Colorado Music Educator's Annual Conference (CMEA)
- Kiwanis Teacher of the Month (May 2015)
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Recognized for his excellence as an orchestral conductor, adjudicator, and clinician, Mr. Nugent is frequently asked to serve as a conductor/clinician throughout the state of Colorado.
In addition to his responsibilities at GWHS, Mr. Nugent has an active private violin studio and personal performance schedule in both classical and alternative styles, and has also served several years as the adjunct string professor at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
